[ACE] Devil's duty

"I don't know how.." Chantel mumbled, gently stroking his hair. Ace finally climbed out of bed, pulling on his jeans before he went downstairs. He stopped short, biting his lip.

"Derek?" He asked quietly, sitting down beside him.

Derek whimpered helplessly, another thing he never did. Satan was getting tired of him cheating what he was told to do.
Chest heaving, he glanced at Ace and some of the red faded from his eyes, Satan not like the idea of a god's son being so close. Sweat trickled down his forhead and he closed his eyes, his lips parted as he wheezed.

He gently ran his fingers through Derek's hair, looking him over. "It's okay.." He said quietly, looking over at Chantel who seemed worried. She laid her head down on his chest gently, and Ace bit his lip.

Derek's head was pounding so bad.... He gagged softly, tears falling down his damp cheeks. But Satan's taunting had passed, leaving him with the lingering effects of a fever and a headache. He shuddered, reaching up to run a trembling hand through Chantel's hair, trying to comfort her despite being the one in pain.

"Come on.. You need some air. Help me get him up." Ace told Chantel. She helped pull Derek to his feet, and the two of them managed to help him outside. Ace sat him down on the porch, Chantel sitting down at his feet. Ace sat down next to him, rubbing at his eye. "Just take deep breaths, okay?"

Derek rested his head against the support beam of the porch, closing his eyes as he focused on breathing. Ace's reaction surprised him, though. He pulled his shirt off slowly, discarding it on the steps, revealing the single triskellion tattoo in the middle of his upper back. He ran a hand through his hair, shuddered.

Ace couldn't help but be a bit scared when he took his shirt off, and moved away a bit, wrapping his arms tightly around himself. He couldn't help thinking back to a few nights ago when he'd hit the coffee table. He reached up, rubbing at his jaw.

Derek looked over at him in confusion, then realized it. "Oh, Ace no...I'm sorry.." He slurred softly. "I'm just hot..." He reached for the damp shirt however, and pulled it back on, simply so Ace wouldn't be so scared to sit next to him.

"No, it's okay." He said quietly, looking down into his lap. 'You're my property; I'll do with you what I will'. He'd been told those words so many times that it made him sick. He knew that's how he was thought of was property. He yawned, leaning against the railing of the porch. He looked around the darkness, just enjoying the feeling of the air on his chest and through his newly cut hair.

Derek still didn't bother remove it again. Not if it was going to make Ace uneasy like that. He stared into the dark quietly now that he had eased up, only a dull throb in the back of his head and his fever breaking with the cool night air. He reached out to play with Chantel's hair gently.

Ace looked over at the two of them, almost wishing he had half that bond with someone. But he didn't have anyone, and he didn't want to linger on the fact that he didn't. He hated worrying about things he couldn't change. He yawned, pulling his legs closer to himself.

Derek glanced at Ace, wishing he could show that he cared, that Ace wouldn't be so afraid. He licked at his lips and sighed softly, drawing his knees up and wrapping his arms around them, resting his chin on stop. It was nice out, quiet. The moon soothed his nerves.

Ace could hear running water somewhere close, but he didn't feel like doing to look for it. All he wanted to do was sit here. He closed his eyes, laying his head against the railing. He ran a hand slowly over his chest, gripping his shoulder after a moment. All he knew was he had an eery feeling, and he didn't know why.

Derek closed his eyes, listening to the distant sound of cars in the bigger part of the city. He yawned softly, would have been more alert had his head not still been pounding faintly. He was grateful to be outside though, where he belonged.

Ace chewed on his lip, finally looking over at Chantel. "Where are we?"

"Vegas. Duh." She said, rolling her eyes.

"I know that. What part of Vegas?"

"The strip's a few miles that way.." She said, then shrugged. And he suddenly knew exactly where they were. "Why?"

"Because I lived three houses away from here five years ago.." He mumbled.
