[ACE] Devil's duty

[derek chandler ralston]

Derek chuckled. "We could move over, or go get you a pad of paper," He asked as he watched him stretch to finish the drawing, and shifted his weight in the swing carwfully, and slowly so as not to startle Ace.

[aerin 'ace' colt endsley]

"I don't like pencils. I can't write with my left hand when my right one gets tired." He said, looking back at Derek. But he didn't seem bothered that he was still in his lap. He used his foot to erase what he'd drawn. "I dunno what to draw."

[derek chandler ralston]

Derek nodded quietly. "Hmm.." He breathed, patting his shoulder as he gazed at the dirt thoughtfully. "What's your favorite animal?"

[aerin 'ace' colt endsley]

"Is a fish an animal?" He asked, looking back at Derek. "I like birds, too. But not big birds like peacocks or anything. Like blue birds and humming birds and stuff."

[derek chandler ralston]

"Yeah, I think it is," He smiled. "Fish, huh?" His fingers rubbed his shoulder gently again before stopping. He didn't want to scare him off. "Ah, birds are also nice."

[aerin 'ace' colt endsley]

"I can't see that they're blue, but my grandmother used to tell me they were. And that there was red ones too." He looked back down at the dirt, drawing a shark before he started to draw a fish.

Derek huffed. "There sure are. They look a little different, too. So even though you can't see color, you can always learn how they're different." He watched him begin to draw again, smiling faintly.

[aerin 'ace' colt endsley]

"The red ones look more black and the blue ones look more grey." He said, swapping the stick to his other hand so he could reach the other side. "What else lives with fish?"

"Oh really? That's cool." He looked down at the picture. "Hm..crabs? Jellyfish?" He licked his lips as he tried to think other things.

[aerin 'ace' colt endsley]

"i got stung by a jelly fish once." He said quietly, slowly drawing a jelly fish with wavy legs before he started on the water bed. "It really hurt."

"Ouch I bet." Derek wrinkled his nose a bit. "I've been bit by a dog, but nothing sea life, yet." He smiled faintly.

"I'm not sea life, so if I bite you, you'll just be bitten by an Aerin." He said quietly, swinging one of his legs back and forth as he started on a crab at their feet.

Derek laughed softly, ruffling the boys hair. "You might make me cry," He teased, that laugh and smile in his gentle voice. "I think more people worry about me biting, than about you."

"Well I don't wanna make you cry.." He said quietly, smiling back at him. He reached up, fixing his hair. "Well, I hope you don't bite me. I don't like being bitten."

Derek chuckled. "You'ce been doing just the opposite," He insisted, smiling down at him. "I won't bite you, I promise," He insisted.
