HOUSTON, TEXAS - JULY 2ND, 1996 It wasn't odd for Justice to be away from home on business for his dad, especially now that he was 19 and could drive across Louisiana to Texas to get the feed they needed for their cattle. But today had been slow, and neither him nor his dad had accounted for it being so close to the fourth of July, meaning practically everywhere was closed or selling fireworks. Not that he minded. It meant he got to spend more time in Texas. And there was always stuff to see in Texas.
He sat down at a table in the small diner, which was practically empty. But he was glad he'd even found somewhere to eat. Tomorrow would be even less likely. He smiled up at the waiter as she gave him a menu. "I'll take a water for now, please." He told her in his thick southern accent before he started to thumb through the menu.

Reagan approached the diner with a sigh of relief. She had been walking for a few miles now and her feet were killing her. The sun was beating down on her back and her back was soaked with sweat. Not an attractive look. Luckily, she had her bag of clothes, but her purse was still in the backseat of Jake's car, which was god knew where at this point. She pushed the door open and the bells on the door jingled merrily, making her wince. She barely looked at the waitress as she asked for the bathroom, wanting to wash the dirt from her dirt-covered, tear-streaked face.
After a few moments of clean-up, and a mini-meltdown, she reemerged to take a seat in the corner of the small, nearly empty diner. The waitress brought her a menu but she waved it away, asking for just water, ignoring the look she got when her stomach growled. She only had a few bucks in her satchel and she would need that for a place to stay the night. Her mother would never let her live this down if she went home.
