He picked up the glass, taking a sip before sitting it down. She was quite that was for sure, but he didn't mind. It was a peaceful quite. Cameron kept quiet, offering a small smile in response. His eyes searched over the kitchen, looking toward the entrance as the two came in. Elaine was looked very different than her mother, but that went without being said. He let the two conversate, looking to the mother as she asked him a question. "Oh, no. I wouldn't want to intrude." He spoke up loud enough for it to reach across the room. "I was just helping your daughter get home. It looked like it would rain and I didn't want her to get caught in it."

"Oh, you aren't intruding! We always have an abundance of food when we cook. And besides, you don't need to be caught in the rain either. You'll catch a cold. Lainee will just turn into a fish." Her mother said with a smile, and Elaine leaned down to get a big glass dish from the cabinet. She walked to the sink to fill it with water before she walked back carefully with it.
"Rosie, where's the-"
"By the glasses, child." She called from the other room, and she reached up, pushing the glasses aside to get the small cobbler dishes. She brought them to the sink, rinsing them out carefully so she didn't get any water on her.

He chuckled softly, and finally had the name to the scent of her blood. Cameron knew she wasn't human, and he hadn't met many mermaids before. His eyes shifted over to Elaine, a small smile crept onto his lips before he looked down to his glass of water. He lifted it to his lips and drank it halfway down. The little family was cute, and it made him wonder about the father. He sighed softly, carefully sitting the glass back onto the island.

Lainee jumped as thunder boomed in the distance, splashing water on the front of her shirt. She carefully leaned up, wringing it out into the sink. She walked up to her room to change her shirt, but she already had scales running up her sides. She walked back down and started to put the pudding into the dishes, then put them into the pan of water before they went into the oven above the chicken. "Are you sure you don't want to stay?" She asked quietly, looking over at the boy. She wouldn't deny he was beyond attractive, that he made her heart beat a little too fast. She ran her hand over the scales beneath her shirt.

He looked up quickly at the boom of thunder, smiling softly as Elaine jumped. As she disappeared, Cameron glanced over at her mother. "Your daughter's very kind." He said, his fingers tapping lightly on the glass. His eyes went back to searching around the kitchen until' Elaine came back. "I uh," He hesitated, smiling sheepisly. "I'll stay." Cameron finished, his right hand dug into his pocket to clutch his wallet.

"Well, thank you." Her mother said with a smile. She was obviously proud of her.
"Unless you gotta get back to looking for what you were searching for earlier. Then you might want to take an umbrella." She said quietly, washing her hands carefully. She dried them off, looking him over again. She didn't want to keep him if he had things to do. She hated to think she might never see him again, but whether he stayed or went, it wouldn't make much of a difference, she guessed. He'd only been polite. He had no real reason to stay.

He chewed his lip thoughtfully, glancing over at Elaine. "No, it's okay. I'll stay." He smiled. "I did say I needed a break from looking-" He stopped, catching himself before he said, 'for her'. They didn't need to know. What were the chances of them seeing eacher other again? Cameron just smiled, picking up his glass to take another sip. "And it's hard to pass up the company of three lovely women." It was his mother who had taught him his manners. She was a strict woman, and they were just now coming to good terms. He looked from Elaine to her mother, grinning softly.

She just nodded, walking back over to the oven to pull out the chicken. She put it on the counter to cool before she pulled the boiled potatoes over to her. She walked over to the sink to drain them before she grabbed a fork and started to mash them up. She walked to the fridge to grab the butter, then put it in the potatoes. She put in some salt and pepper, then scooped them into a serving dish. She brought them over to the table. Rosie came in after her to sit the table.

Cameron drank the rest of his water before he sat the glass back down. He watched them quietly, running his hand through his hair as it began to fall. Pulling his wallet up to the opening of his pocket, he looked down, sighing softly before letting it go to rub his hands together. "Your house is very home-y." He hadn't felt like this since living at his parents in Brazil. "Would you like me to help?" He asked, looking from Rosie to Lainee.

"Thank you." Her mother said. Lainee shook her head at his question, carefully carrying the peas to the table before she went back for the chicken.
"You're the guest." Rosie said with a smile, and Lainee went back to grab the glasses. She sat them down, walking to the fridge to grab the juice and a pitcher of water before she sat them in the table. Rosie walked over to help her mother to the table, and Lainee sat down at her seat.
"Would you like juice or water?" Lainee asked him, pouring her juice into her glass before she filled her mother's.

He just nodded quietly, waiting til' they were all at the table before taking his own seat. He chewed his lip, looking over to Elaine. "Water's fine, thanks." Cameron smiled, holding his glass out slightly so she could pour. He met her gaze, thinking of how she was covered in freckles. It was pretty cutie though.

She poured him his glass of water, Rosie busy cutting and serving the chicken. Elaine grabbed the mashed potatoes, putting them on her mother's plate for her before she put some on her own and handed them to Cameron. She grabbed the peas, doing the same before she took up her knife in her hand, cutting her chicken into small bits so she could eat it. She looked over at him for a moment before she took a bite of her chicken, looking out the window.

Cameron sat the glass down, looking around the table quietly as he waited for the food. He gave a quiet thank you as the chicken was put on the plate, his hands moving to take the mash potatoes away from Elaine. He put some on his plate and sat it down before taking the peas and doing the same. Picking up his fork and knife, he peeked over at Lainee, smiling softly as he caught her gaze. He cut into the chicken, and placed it into his mouth. "This is really good." He said after he swallowed.

Lainee smiled at his compliment. "Thank you. Rosie stuffed the chicken for me." She said before she got up to get the bread pudding out of the oven. She sat it down on the stove, carefully pulling the cobbler dishes out of the water to put them onto the counter. She dried her hands and walked back, taking her seat again. She took a bite of her mashed potatoes, looking over at her mom. "When's dad coming back?"
"Some time at the end of the week. He sent you a package in the mail today. It's on your bed." Her mother said with a smile.
"I saw." She said quietly.

He contunied to cut up his chicken, staying quiet as he ate. He watched Lainee as she got up from the table before looking back down to his plate. Cameron used his fork to mix the peas in with the mased patotoes, scooping some up and taking a bite. His eyes wondered around the table quietly, glancing between Elaine and her mother as they talked. A soft smile played across his lips, his hand cupping around his glass to wash down the food.
