Lainee made her way home, and had enough time to start her book before she got to work cooking dinner. She served her mother and Rosie, went out to check the mail and bring it in, and took her shower before she even thought about getting into her book again. She combed through her hair carefully, braiding it and securing it with a tie before she walked down to the living room. She curled up in the window seat, looking out at the dark yard before she opened up her book. She reached over, pulling the lamp a little closer to her before she started reading.

Cameron had waited awhile til' he started toward Elaine's house. He had stopped to eat dinner and stroll around the streets. But now, her home was right in front of him. He walked to the door slowly, his nostrils flared at the scent of her blood. He thought of himself as lucky that he had stopped earlier, her scent was strong, and enticing. His hand balled into a fist, knocking on the door lightly. He didn't want to wake anyone, hadn't even checked to see what time it was.

Elaine looked up at the knock on the door, using a ribbon to mark her spot before she got up. She sat her book in her seat, checking to make sure her night gown was buttoned and straight before she picked the hem up with one hand and started towards the door. She opened it slowly, drawing her eyebrows together. "Cameron? What's wrong?" She asked, letting go of her nightgown so it pooled at the floor. "Are you okay?"

A big grin flashed on his face showing his teeth. "No, nothings wrong." He responded, his hand already working it's way into his pocket. "You, um, dropped something." He pulled the watch out, holding out slightly. "You left in such a rush, and I wanted to see you again." Cameron admitted, glancing up to catch her gaze. He smiled, sheepishly and uncurled his fingers from the watch so she could take it.

She looked him over, would have never guessed he was anything but human before now. But he was as attractive as ever, the night seeming to only bring out the features she'd admired before. She slowly reached over with delicate fingers, taking the watch up by the chain. "Thank you. But why would you want to see me? You could have left it on the steps." She said quietly. She stepped carefully out onto the porch, closing the door quietly behind her so she didn't wake anyone.

He stepped back, letting her have room as she stepped out. "I told you, I think your a wonderful woman. And if I left it on the stairs, I might not have seen you again. I thought I did something wrong when you left." Cameron shrugged softly before his hand moved to scratch his head. His eyes looked her over, she looked gorgeous even though she was ready for bed. "Did I do something wrong? I can leave..." He added quickly after. He thought they were getting along fine, but now, he wasn't sure.

She always found it funny when people confused stairs and steps, but she didn't dare correct him. "You didn't do anything wrong. I just had to come home and cook. We'd forgotten the pasta and I had to make it all by hand instead of getting it from the dry goods store." She said quietly, picking up the hem of her dress so she could walk over to the porch swing. She sat down carefully, looking over at the boy. "You came all this way to return my watch. I couldn't turn you away."

He huffed quietly, nodding his head. His eyes trailed after her as she made her way to the porch swing. "Well, you could," Cameron chuckled, "but I would like it if you didn't." He let another chuckle out before shoving his hands into his pocket. He couldn't help but like the girl, being a total change from his last intanglement. But Cameron kept himself at bay, he barely knew the girl. And she didn't seem all too interested.

"Of course I couldn't. I'm a lady and a lady doesn't turn away handsome young men who've done not one but two nice favors for them. It would be rude." She said quietly, swinging slowly on the swing. He had been on her mind today, despite her now knowing she couldn't have him. She fixed her light green dress so it wasn't dragging across the porch as she swung. "You must have something else in mind. You've already given back my watch. What else did you need?"

He shrugged, modestly. It was nothing out of the ordinary for him to be nice. He did have a temper, there just wasn't a short fuse. Cameron took a couple steps toward the swing, a smirk growing on his face at her last words. "I don't need anything," 'But I would like to do something, but it'd be rude.' He felt like finishing with, but kept to himself. There was no doubt, he was attracted to her physically, and he wanted to act on that attraction. But she was sweet and kind, he couldn't take advantage of her. "It's just.. I uh.. you're fun to be around."

"Fun?" She questioned. She would either annoy him and make him leave or cause him to stay. Either way would tell her exactly how he was out of the public's eye. "You hardly know me, dear. How do you know I know what fun is? Maybe I'm one of those people with their nose in the air and don't know the first thing about fun." She raised an eyebrow, keeping a straight face despite wanting to smile. He was cute. And she desperately wanted something to do with him, but she knew things probably wouldn't amount to much more than they already were.

Cameron laughed, trying to keep quiet so he wouldn't wake her family. "You could be, but I'm usually by myself. So, just about anything is fun to me." He offered her another smirk berfore leaning up against the railing of the porch. His eyes watched her swing back and forth, slowly. "You don't seem like one of those people, though. I ate dinner with you the first night we met, you stopped and chatted with me ealier today, and now, you're outside with me. I don't think people with their nose stuck up to sky are that nice." A smile tugged at his lips.

She couldn't help but smile. "Maybe I'm just really good at deceiving you." She said quietly, slowly moving her crossed legs back and forth. She reached up, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear. "You can't trust us red heads. We're known to have a temper, you know." She teased, slipping her fingers between the gaps in the wood of the swing. She looked him over, her heart in her throat before she looked back up into his face.

'It wouldn't be too hard.' He thought, was always told by his ex. But the smile stayed on his lips, and he quickly jumped to something else to think about. "Maybe so, but I haven't seen that yet." His eyes traced over the swing before moving back to Elaine. "Mind if I sit?" Cameron asked, quietly. His legs were starting to get tired, he had been walking most of the day.

She shook her head. "No you may not, mister. The entire swing's mine." She said with as serious of a face as she could muster before she finally smiled and moved her fingers from between the boards so they wouldn't get crushed. "But I suppose I could spare an inch or two." She smiled, moving over a bit despite there being an entire swing for him to sit on.
